Kris and I both come from families where our grandmothers were the heart and soul of our families and their kitchens filled with amazing aromas and love by the bushel full were where we learned many of life’s lessons.
Whipping eggs by hand with a whisk until light and fluffy were lessons in patience and perseverance. When cornbread was on the menu and the buttermilk was no where to be found, being adaptable was a lesson learned using a splash of vinegar in cow’s milk. And after weeks of watching the crocks bubble and ferment a health serving of homemade sauerkraut was a lesson that good things came to those who waited.
Each year we sat down to family favorites during holiday meals and when our time as mothers and wives came we came into our own when we attempted these very same favorites at our “ first” hosted holidays as a newlywed.
Now years later these same recipes have become favorites for our children, the very same ones that they ask about year after year.
We created this blog to keep our favorites in one place and share them with family and friends. Some are our own creations… others are variations of our favorite chefs , our friends or favorite websites. We’ll add photos as often as we can, and as we make the dishes will add a photo. So some recipes won’t get a picture added until get around to cooking it.
It’s hard not to love good food, shared with family and good friends. Enjoy !
**** note****
Until we create an actual recipe, or in case it does not photograph well for us, we will use stock photos of dishes as close in appearance to what we have made as possible.
